Lulu Mall Bengaluru Celebrates World Environment Day by Honouring City’s Street Warriors

Bengaluru, June 5, 2025 – Marking World Environment Day with purpose and pride, Lulu Mall Bengaluru hosted a special felicitation ceremony to honour the city’s street warriors — the frontline waste workers who play a vital role in keeping Bengaluru clean and green.

Held under the theme “Keeping the City Clean, Keeping the City Green,” the event was organised in partnership with Hasiru Dala and Green Mic, drawing participation from environmentalists, civic leaders, corporate representatives, and the general public.

The evening featured the launch of a permanent “Wall of Fame” installation at the mall, showcasing powerful stories of resilience and dedication from waste workers who form the backbone of the city’s waste management system. The installation aims to raise awareness about their critical role in environmental sustainability.

Over 30 street warriors were recognised and awarded for their exceptional service in waste segregation, collection, and recycling — highlighting their significant contribution to the city’s cleanliness.

Speaking on the occasion, Kiran V Puthran, General Manager, Lulu Mall Bengaluru, said,
“It is our privilege to honour these unsung heroes who work tirelessly to keep Namma Bengaluru clean. Lulu Mall is committed to both people and the planet. We urge individuals and corporates alike to extend their support to these essential workers who are the foundation of a sustainable city.”

The event served not only as a platform for recognition but also as a call to action for greater community and corporate support for environmental initiatives and waste workers.
